Bringing the local community together...

Clanfield Twinning Association

Summary

Clanfield Twinning was set up 19years ago. We are twinned with a group of 8 villages in Normandy who collectively are called Val d’ Oison (the valley of the river Oison). They are situated in a picturesque area between Rouen and Paris with the nearest town being Elboeuf.

We wish to develop links between our two communities, developing friendship, overcome any cultural differences and enjoy the differences each country has to offer.

We have 55 members who live in Clanfield and the surrounding parishes. We meet regularly in the village halls for quiz nights, wine tasting, meals and other social activities in order to raise the funds to entertain our French friends when they come over every other year. When we go over to Val d’Oison we stay with the same families and are wined and dined and entertained royally. We are a very friendly group who enjoy France, wine and food and enjoying ourselves. The ability to speak French is not necessary; we can always make ourselves understood!

Many of our members have joined to meet other people in Clanfield who like them enjoy France its wine and food, and have made strong friendships.

Our events take place usually on a weekend at either the Memorial Hall or another local hall. Many of our events are open to non members but a few events such as a BBQ and a 12th Night Party are private occasions.

For the latest information on forthcoming events please visit the website. http://www.clanfieldtwinning.co.uk/

The association aims high, not only with its relationship with Val d’ Oison but also with its own community in Clanfield. Making this relationship work is down to voluntary work by both associations and the communities.

New members are always welcome, so if you enjoy holidays in France, French wine, French food, socialising and making new friends then why not come along, or get in contact for more information.
