Breastfeeding Network Havant

Summary

Breastfeeding Network

The Breastfeeding Network is a charity which meets in Clanfield..  Our vision is a society where mums and families are able to make informed decisions about breastfeeding, to access help when they need it and to become confident in their choices. For a new mum deciding how to feed her baby, talking to a mum who knows about breastfeeding can make a crucial difference and the Breastfeeding Network strives to be the best we can be at providing peer support.

Our mission is to offer independent, evidence-based information and support to help build awareness of breastfeeding to individuals and organisations and to support a mum in her choice to breastfeed.

All our groups are run by volunteers who have been trained to provide mum-to-mum peer support.  We have had a project running in Havant and Waterlooville since 2014 and started a breastfeeding support group alongside the child health clinic in Clanfield Memorial Hall earlier this year.  We welcome mums and their family members both antenatally and postnatally.  Locally we have 20 volunteers running the following groups:

Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday – 9-10.45am – Breastfeeding drop in alongside Child Health Clinic, Clanfield Memorial Hall, South Lane, Clanfield, PO8 0RB

Tuesdays – 1.30-3.00pm – Breastfeeding drop in alongside Child Health Clinic, Emsworth Community Centre, North Street, Emsworth, PO10 7DD

Wednesdays – 9.30-11am – Breastfeeding drop in alongside Child Health Clinic, Sharps Copse Children’s Centre, Prospect Lane, Havant, PO9 5PE

Every 2nd and 4th Thursday – 9.30-11am – Breastfeeding drop in alongside Child Health Clinic, Mill Hill Children’s Centre, Mill Road, Waterlooville, PO7 7DB

1st Friday of the month (term time only) – 10.30-12 – Breastfeeding Support alongside bumps to bundles, Crookhorn Children’s Centre, Crookhorn Lane, Purbrook PO7 5QL.

We also provide support via our closed Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/mumsknowbreast/.  This is a closed, private group where only members can see posts and it offers a place for local mums and mums-to-be to seek individual breastfeeding support.

Breastfeeding support is also available via the National Breastfeeding Helpline - 0300 100 0212 which is run by mums in their own homes and is open 9.30am-9.30pm every day of the year.
