Catherington Village

Catherington Sign

Catherington stretches along the top of the hill above Clanfield.  It still has a rural flavour with plenty of green spaces and attractive housing.

All Saints is a stately 12th century church that stands on a spur of chalkland with views to the south.  No one could fail to be impressed by the ancient wall painting and monuments from centuries past and in the churchyard, you will find the tombs of renowned admirals, Sir Charles Napier and Sir Christopher Cradock.  Actor Edmund Kean was laid to rest here amongst other theatrical names from the early stage.  The church is well attended and shares staff with St James in Clanfield.  A large, well equipped church hall is used for events and private hire,

The Farmer Inn ensures that villagers are well cared for in food, drink and company.

Catherington C of E Infant School and Kingscourt School, a private school at an old stately home both have an excellent reputation in the area.

Catherington has a village pond and a car park for access to Catherington Down, a natural conservation area and popular with dog walkers and interest groups alike.
