St Michael & All Angels Church

Summary

St Michael & All Angels Church, Chalton

This beautiful church was built in the late 11th or early 12th century; the design typical early Norman. It is known that there was a Roman Villa here and a Saxon church before the Norman Conquest. At one time the church would have stood like a beacon in the surrounding countryside and it was the practice of the early Christians to dedicate a church built on a hill to St Michael.

Weekly services are held in this peaceful setting in the South Downs; we also hold musical concerts, talks and afternoon teas!  You will receive a warm welcome at St Michaels from our friendly congregation - we look forward to meeting you.

St. Michael’s is part of the United Benefice, in the diocese of Portsmouth, together with Holy Trinity, Blendworth and St Hubert’s, Idsworth.
