Clanfield CC have finished another successful season without quite reaching the heights of 2014 when only 4 games were lost. However, in 2015, 20 games were won with only 8 being lost so the overall level was again very high.
Individually, there were a number of excellent performances. Mark Turnbull was the leading batsman with 533 runs scoring 2 centuries, the first of his career. Matt Bradley was not too far behind scoring 479, with a further 3 players scoring in excess of 300. Mark and Matt both averaged over 50 while Matt was the only person to feature in all 28 games. There were also a total of 10 fifties spread across 6 players.
On the bowling front, 9 different bowlers managed at least 10 wickets with Bob Wheeler leading the way with 37. Again, Matt was close behind on 34. There were a number of notable bowling figures in matches including Matt's 6 for 9 against Steep, Bob's 5 for 11 away at Buriton and Ben Cox's 4 for 7 away against Lou Smith Casuals. Full details can be found on the club's website. http://clanfieldcc.play-cricket.com/
After some end of season work scarifying, seeding and rolling the pitch, the outdoor season is now pretty much ended for another year. However, for the first time, the club has entered a team in the South East Hampshire Indoor League. The first game is Sunday 18 October at Fareham Leisure Centre.
Indoor nets have also been booked again at Oaklands School, starting on 13 January 2016 at 20.00. Anybody interested in coming along should contact the captain (please see website for contact details) or turn up on the night.
Overall it was another enjoyable season with some new diversions added to keep the interest until next season.
