Clanfield were unfortunate to lose an exciting game against Knowle Village when the opposition scored 6 runs off the last ball on Sunday 15 November.
Batting first, Clanfield lost a pair of early wickets to run outs. However Oscar Windebank took the attack to the Knowle Village bowling with a number of boundaries before retiring. Further good scoring by Matt Bradley, Mark Turnbull and Toby Wherle saw Clanfield reach 134 for 3 from their 12 overs.
Early tidy bowling by Clanfield saw Knowle Village struggle early on. However, they steadily accumulated runs but still needed 30 from the last over and 12 from the last 2 balls.
The penultimate ball was hit into the top corner of the court before falling safely but when Oscar Windebank hit the stumps with the batsman out of their ground, the bails were not dislodged and another run was taken.
This left Knowle requiring 6 runs from the final ball and the batsman managed a maximum to leave Clanfield shocked and disappointed at their loss.
However it was an exciting finish and the team will take many positives from the game.
