Holy Week and Easter at St James Church, Clanfield

Palm Sunday 20 March 11.00 Holy Communion and Blessing of Palms.  Join us for the blessing of the palms and listen to the story of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, Last Supper and Passion: we will gather first in the grounds of the church (weather permitting.)  This service includes Holy Communion to which all are most welcome.

Maundy Thursday 24 March. 7.30pm at All Saints Church Catherington.   St James joins the congregation of All Saints Church, Catherington to celebrate the giving of the Last Supper and Washing of Feet. After the service we have a ‘watch’ which represents the time that the disciples went with Jesus to pray in Gethsemane before his arrest.

Good Friday 25 March 10.30am. Walk of Witness.   Starting from St Edmunds Roman Catholic Church, Napier Road, Horndean, Waterlooville PO8 9LR  and walking to Horndean Methodist Church, Blendworth Centre Horndean. St James and All Saints join together with our local churches of St Edmunds RC, Horndean Baptist, Horndean Methodist and Blendworth, Chalton and Idsworth churches on a Walk of Witness.  Please join us for this time of friendship and fellowship as we walk together.

Service of Meditation: St James Church 2.00 - 3.00pm.  A time of quiet reflection and readings.

Easter Day Sunday 27 March.  St James Church will light the New Easter Candle and celebrate with a Sung Service of Holy Communion at 11.00 am. Come and share the joy of Easter with us!

Café Church Saturday 2 April.  This is a time of modern worship songs, a time to explore what it’s all about. Do you have questions to ask about Christianity? Come and ask them – we are eager to hear your questions.  Do you play an instrument but don’t have anywhere to play?  We have a drum kit waiting for a drummer.  Let’s make plenty of noise together.  Come and join us for refreshments; tea, coffee, squash and cake available throughout the worship.  We start a 4.30 and all are welcome; if you would like to have a go at playing some of the music with us come to our practise night Thursday 31 March at 8 pm in St James church with your instrument.

See you there!
