Winter Cricket Report
Clanfield suffered mixed fortunes in their last 2 games, with a heavy defeat being followed by a convincing win.
Against ServiceMaster, Clanfield started steadily reaching 31 for no wicket from the first 5 overs. However, after Haider Khan was out for 9, the wickets quickly tumbled and they were all out for 57 from 10 overs. Alex Andrews top scored with 14.
Against such a low total, the ServiceMaster batsmen scored easily and reached the target with no wickets lost in only the 6th over.
However, in their next game against Bedhampton, the village team fared much better. Batting first again, they scored more freely although they regularly lost wickets. After losing both openers, Matt Bradley and Dan Wheeler kept the rate ticking over nicely. When Bradley was run out and another wicket lost straight away they were wobbling on 82 for 4 but some good hitting by Wheeler (42) and last man Russ Stuart (14) saw them reach 123 all out from their 12 overs.
When Bedhampton batted, the Clanfield bowlers kept things tight and regularly took wickets. All the bowlers performed well with Mark Turnbull (1 for 20), Bradley (2-15) and Stuart (1-19) all getting wickets. Bedhampton finished on 67 for 5 giving Clanfield a 56 run victory.
Mixed results then, but a good win to take into the next game against league leaders Petersfield on 14th February.
