Enforcement up for debate at Community Forum

From parking to littering to fly-tipping East Hampshire’s enforcement teams are working hard keeping the district clean and orderly.

But how does enforcement work? What happens to the money raised and what can you do to appeal a fine?

These questions and many more will be answered at the next Community Forums to be held in the district which will focus on enforcement in East Hampshire.

The Community Forum for Horndean, Clanfield and Rowlands Castle will discuss the issue on Wednesday 5 July at Merchistoun Hall, Portsmouth Road, Horndean, P08 9LJ.

The Community Forum for Petersfield, Liss and Surrounding Villages will discuss the issue on Tuesday 11 July at Penns Place, GU31 4EX.

The meetings, to start at 6.30pm, will feature a panel of experts on the issue, including some of the officers in charge of East Hampshire District Council’s enforcement teams.

Residents will have the chance to hear what they have to say and ask questions of their own in a ‘Question Time’ format.

Natalie Meagher, Head of Neighbourhood Support, for EHDC said: “East Hampshire District Council is responsible for tackling important local issues such as parking, littering and fly-tipping and it takes this responsibility very seriously.

“Enforcement is an important part of that work but it’s not just about issuing tickets. We understand that residents need to feel comfortable with what we’re doing and how we’re doing it.

“If you have any queries or concerns about enforcement in your area please come along and speak to the experts at your local community forum.”

East Hampshire District Council’s Community Forums give local people and their councillors a chance to meet and discuss important local issues.
