Clanfield Cricket Club Match Report

Clanfield were on their home ground in South Lane Meadow in the last Wednesday of July. Spirits were high as we faced Raymarine Cricket Club on a beautiful, hot sunny evening.
Unfortunately, we took a bit of a hammering on this occasion. Raymarine scored 147 for 3 from their 20 overs, with 3 players retiring on 25. Three bowlers took a wicket each for Clanfield.
In reply, Clanfield scored 120 for 6 from 20 overs. Matt Bradley and Chris Wheeler both retired with their 25 but, always chasing the game, it proved we had conceded too many runs for us to get close to Raymarine’s total.
Oh well, there’s always next time.
The match against Elsted was cancelled on Sunday 29 July due to some, much needed, rain.
However, we have started August with a win on our home ground – match report to follow. Let’s hope we continue with a winning streak.
We always welcome new players who wish to join, be it seasoned campaigners or those who are less experienced but just wish to play a friendly game of cricket. Prospective new players should contact Club Captain Matt Bradley on 02392 591621.
