Petersgate School Remembrance Service

Petersgate Infant School celebrated a special Remembrance Service on Friday 9 November. We were joined by family members and residents from the Whitehaven Care Home.

It was a very moving service consisting of a 2 minutes silence, listening to the Last Post and placing poppies, made by the children, onto the school field in the shape of ‘100’ to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War. The children made us very proud by being so respectful.

Round the World Day

Petersgate Infant School had an exciting time last week with Round the World Day. Each classroom represented a different country, 9 in total: the children chose which country they wanted to ‘visit’, not forgetting their ‘passport’ of course!  Their passports were stamped, and they will have the opportunity to collect further stamps in the spring and summer terms.  The children will be taking part in lots of activities to learn about each country.

We hope your child was able to tell you a fact or two about the country they visited. We were also lucky enough to be joined by twelve, Year 5, children from Clanfield Junior School. The atmosphere around school was lovely, with different groups of children working together.
