Clanfield Grandmother’s Marathon Success
In January Clanfield Online featured a report by Clanfield grandmother who was training for the 2018 London Marathon.
Angela Fisher or ‘Nanny Fish’ as she is known by her grandchildren, was determined to take on this huge challenge to raise funds for the Stickler Syndrome UK: Angela has two daughters and a granddaughter affected by this rare hereditary genetic condition.
The hot weather on Sunday 22 April meant that it wasn’t an easy race for any of the competitors: Angela thanked the London Fire Service for spraying water over the marathon runners as they pounded along the course “we didn’t have to stop - just ran through the lovely cold water. It felt wonderful.”
We are delighted to report that Angela, cheered on by thousands of race supporters, including her proud family, succeeded in crossing the finishing line and she has brought her medal and winners’ T shirt back to Clanfield.
Mission accomplished Nanny Fish!
