Criminal damage at beauty spot
Author: Anne Cleaver
A trip to enjoy the beauty of Bluebell Woods in North Lane, Clanfield turned sour when a car was vandalised on Sunday. Thieves attempting to break into a Clanfield resident’s car, smashed a window and drilled the lock. The damage they inflicted was in vain as no valuables were kept in the car but the cost of repair in terms of time and money will be considerable. The car owner who wishes to remain anonymous, wants to alert others to this incident and urge them to be on their guard.
In recent months this website has reported similar incidents, some have occurred on the driveways of residential homes, in nearby roads or like this incident spoiling an otherwise perfect day out.
We live in a rural area, with beautiful country lanes that can also be the perfect cover for criminal activity. Whether it is a car break-in, fly tipping or thieves trying to steal farm equipment or animals, it is up to all of us keep our eyes open and report anything suspicious. Don’t put yourself into danger but if something doesn’t look right - then tell the Police. Call 101 to contact the local police. https://www.police.uk/hampshire/8OP01/
The next Beat Surgery is on Thursday 10 May at Clanfield Memorial Hall.
