 Community Centre Open Evening

This Wednesday, 18 July, from 4 – 8pm will be the first opportunity for local people to get inside the Sports and Community Centre in Green Lane, Clanfield.

If you, like me, have viewed the exterior of the building from every angle trying to picture what it looks like on the inside, then you will be keen to walk through the front doors on Wednesday and finally see for yourself.

There is no argument that this building has taken a long time to open its doors to the public – even if it is just for a look around at this stage.  However, it was only last month that the building finally became the property of Clanfield Parish Council following a vast amount of work by a team of parish councillors, who are all volunteers: they navigated their way through a minefield of complex legal paperwork to ensure that this building now really belongs to the village.

There has been a huge amount of interest about the Open Evening on this website, social media and in the Clanfield Post so we expect there will be a good turnout. A team of trustees and councillors, who are all local residents, will be available to answer questions and discuss future plans. The trustees vision is to create and sustain “a vibrant, healthy, engaged and prosperous community through sport and community events.”  There is no doubt we need sports, social and community amenities which will reflect the growth of our village and the lifestyle we all want to enjoy.  Come along to the Open Evening and bring your family, friends and neighbours.
