Festive cheers for Clanfield Christmas trees

Christmas trees are lighting up Clanfield for the second-year running and local businesses are reporting a wave of approval from customers.  Clanfield Online volunteers were determined to build on the success of last year’s Christmas trees by funding two new wooden planters in Drift Road this year.  Using business member funds and a community grant from EHDC Councillor Nigel Wren, the website was able to buy extra trees, lights and baubles to bring even more of a Christmassy feel to the village this year.

Clanfield Online was also able to help the Memorial Hall in South Lane and the Sports and Community Centre in Green Lane with donations of baubles and lights. The green and gold baubles used throughout the village echo the colours used in the design of the website.

Website volunteers were kept busy helping to decorate the trees in the recent cold, wet weather. However, the chilly conditions they experienced were warmed by cups of tea supplied by local businesses and the reaction of villagers of all ages – “the smiles of children, their parents and older people, as they passed by, made our work worthwhile” commented one volunteer.

Together with the village Christmas trees, the latest project launched by the website is the sale of Clanfield shopping bags available at all local shops: the more bags we sell the more local projects we can fund next year.
