Rook’s Way – One Day Path Closure
28th January 2019
More information:- Clanfield Gardening Club
The Show Committee and Judges had their work cut out at the Clanfield Horticultural Show in The Memorial Hall last Sunday. With the entries getting better every year, competition was strong for the array of silverware on offer to the winners.
Vegetables, craft, baking, jam, flowers, plants and hanging baskets decorated the hall with glorious colours. Members had pulled out all the stops to provide delicious cakes for visitors to sample and a raffle ensured there were even more winners on the day.
Gardening Club members had grown a cutting of a Mystery Fuchsia revealed as ’Gay Parasol'; this hardy variety proved a popular choice with 18 beautiful grown plants in the judging. Christine Cox won the cup for the Best Individual Horticultural exhibit; Roger Simmons and Mike Pritchard shared the Photography Cup whilst David Chamberlain and Ron Hammerton picked up prizes for their winning cucumbers and rhubarb.
A successful day showing off the hard work of local people who love their plants and crafts. If you want to join them next year then the Gardening Club meet every 2nd Tuesday in the month at 7.30pm at Petersgate Infants School. We welcome new members so please come along to join this friendly group.
