Clanfield Beavers poppy display

Clanfield Beavers have been working hard to make their contribution to honour those who have served our country.  The Beavers cut out dozens of poppies, pinning them onto 8 wreaths, that are now to be found on the Drift Road roundabout.

Assistant Beaver Leader Jennie Shaw said “The Beavers colony’s had a couple of great sessions learning about why we wear poppies, what the significance of the poppies is, and the different coloured poppies and what they mean. They spent the rest of the session cutting out the poppies and making the wreaths, we are really proud of the effort of the boys and girls!” Clanfield Scouts

Clanfield Online, supported by local businesses, funded the Beaver project and added their own offering by fixing poppies to the wooden flower planters in the village.  Large poppies, funded by Clanfield Parish Council, have again been fixed to name plates and focal points in the village.  Clanfield & Horndean Litter pickers were out on Sunday clearing paths and hedgerows collecting 42 bags of rubbish before next weekend, when the nation remembers the sacrifices of so many brave men and women.

The Beavers’ contribution is a message to us all. “Don’t forget to buy your poppy or make an extra donation in any of our local shops supporting the Royal British Legion appeal.”
