Clanfield Cricket Club New Year wins

Clanfield Cricket Club, indoor team, continued their good form into the New Year with two wins from two matches in the Fareham Indoor Cricket League.

The first game back after Christmas, game 6 of the season, saw Clanfield play the Emsworth B team. Emsworth B won the toss and elected to bat first; they scored 108 all out, in their 12 overs. Matt Bradley and Andy Wellen took a wicket each, with Matt also securing 4 run outs. In reply, Clanfield reached the target required with 9 balls to spare, 3 wickets down. Matt Bradley and Adam Smith both retired on reaching 25, with Adam returning at the end of the innings to finish on 34* to secure victory.

Game 7 of the indoor season saw Clanfield play 12th Men B.

Clanfield captain Mike Collins won the toss and elected to field. 12th Men B scored 105 all out from 11.3 overs: Jonny Mash, Adam Smith and Matt Bradley taking 2 wickets each. In reply, Matt Bradley scored 21 before being run out: but it was Dan Wheeler who secured victory for Clanfield; after retiring on reaching 25 he returned at the end of the innings to finish on 35*, scoring the 11 runs required in the final over, to get Clanfield over the victory line with 3 balls to spare and 4 wickets down.

These two victories leaves Clanfield in second place in the league table, just 2 points behind top of the league, Hambledon B.
