Challenging and fun weekend ahead
So much to enjoy this weekend in Clanfield and Horndean that you’ll be spoilt for choice. You sometimes hear the complaint that “nothing ever happens here” – well, not this weekend so let’s look at a few of the events on offer in our area.
The Clanfield Challenge is back for a third year this Sunday, the first race starts at 09.30. Make a date to join the crowds of well-wishers cheering on 1,000 runners striving to achieve their personal best. No running places left this year, but you might be inspired to sign up in 2020. There will be road closures to keep runners safe, so dust off your trainers to walk down to South Lane Meadow and join in the fun. CC
How about a taste of Anglo Saxon life? Butser Ancient Farm is playing host this weekend to the Hampshire based Anglo Saxon re-enactment group, Herigeas Hundas – Dogs of War. They’ll be showing off their battle skills but also introducing us to everyday life as they set up camp beside the Saxon Hall. More information visit BAF
If you want a slightly slower pace, then we have just the events for you. Clanfield Nursery School Open Morning CNS is taking place on Saturday from 11.00 at St James Church Hall. Whilst across the road at the Memorial Hall the Clanfield Gardeners Club Annual Plant Sale will start at 2pm – get their early to grab some bargains! CGC Events
How about the sounds of music and song? St Michael’s Church Chalton is hosting ‘The Pitchpipers’ on Sunday afternoon at 3pm. You can enjoy barbershop harmonies and then sample the amazing cake selection on sale to support church funds. SMC Events Or you might want to give singing a try at Horndean Technology Collage – this Sunday at 3pm is the first of two singing workshops. HTC Facebook
I might have missed out of some events out but at least with this list you can’t complain of being bored. For our full Events listing visit What's Happening?
Plenty to do, see and experience this weekend – see you there!
