Clanfield Nursery School rises to the Challenge

What a wonderful weekend we have had in the village.  There was so many events to choose from and the weather was kinder than the forecast had predicted. Last weekend

The Clanfield Challenge hosted 1,000 brave runners, family, friends and villagers who flocked to South Lane Meadow to enjoy a glorious day in our beautiful Hampshire countryside.  However, it wasn’t just about the runners striving to succeed or the dozens of brilliant volunteers that made the day run smoothly.  It was also about local organisations and businesses who pitched their stalls, providing refreshments, music, songs, dance, sports, information and fun. They made the day complete.

Amongst the stalls and attractions there were Clanfield Online members ready to welcome visitors: The Hampshire Hog, AdvanceSRM, Clanfield Chiropractic, Community and Sports Centre, Corner 53, Clanfield Scouts, Catherington Infant and Clanfield Junior School amongst many others.

The Clanfield Nursery School team were helping to keep the smallest children entertained whilst older children and adults entered their runs.  Shortly before the event CNS were delighted to hear that they, amongst others, had been successful in their bid for 2019 Challenge funds.

Joann Baker, who runs this much loved, local nursery school, commented. “Clanfield Nursery School is thrilled to have received £250.00.  We plan to use it to construct much needed outdoor storage space and buy new toys for the children.

“The Clanfield Challenge was amazing: some of our Clanfield Nursery School children, current and past, took part in the run and we proudly cheered them over the finishing line. They were so determined to do their best, trying so hard and not giving up!

“We met many families who brought their children to play with magnetic sticks, playdough, puzzles and games which we had bought along, while the adults were completing their runs.

“My staff and I would like to thank The Challenge Committee; we are truly honoured. We hope that as many people as possible come along to our Summer Fair on Saturday 22 June”

Our congratulations to the Clanfield Challenge and we are already looking forward to Challenge 2020.
