Cubs colour tubs

Clanfield Cubs and Beavers were busy on Saturday morning applying a fresh coat of wood stain to the planters outside the Drift Road shops.  The wooden tubs, which brighten up the shopping area with colourful plants and hold the village Christmas trees over the festive season, were beginning to look a little weather-beaten.  Clanfield 1st Cub Pack were searching for a community project for their younger members and Clanfield Online were keen to support them and sponsored the work with a £100 donation for their funds.

The children, aided by their adult helpers, used painting supplies provided by Charlie Cumbers of Clanfield Trade Centre. The cubs and beavers worked so hard in such a short amount of time that they added an extra job of repainting the wooden surrounds of the community flowerbed on the Southern Co-op grass verge.

Clanfield Online paid for the construction of the planters in 2017 and use the funds provided by business members to buy plants and Christmas trees for the benefit of the village.  Three months ago, pupils from Clanfield Junior School gardening club filled the containers with plants and this website donated money to the group for vitally needed tools and materials. Clanfield Juniors

Clanfield Scout Group do a great job in giving our young people skills and experiences.  They have fundraising projects throughout the year, so please look out and support them.
