St Michael’s Chalton - Our Wonderful Church

Every visitor to St Michael & All Angels in Chalton loves the building and its atmosphere – many wonderful messages in the Visitors’ Book endorse that.

One remark recently was “I love this space. It lifts me every time I visit.” Our small, but very close, congregation fully agree with this sentiment and it has brought much peace and comfort to many people over the centuries. Not just the building, but its setting in the glorious countryside and every person who comes through its ever-open door is warmly welcomed.

There are of a couple of very special services in the next few weeks. Firstly, Evensong on Sunday 29th September at 6pm, will be taken by our new priest in charge, the Rev’d Vickie Morgan, and sung by a cappella group The Free Radicals.

Harvest Festival will be celebrated at Parish Communion on Sunday 6th October at 9.30am. Gifts of non-perishable food will be donated to Waterlooville Food Bank.

We also love to share this place with the wider community and now have many regulars for our popular afternoon teas – this August Bank Holiday we had to refill the tea urn twice and we nearly ran out of cakes! Obviously, many return time and again for Stephen Jones and his stunning hats.

Of course, the fabulous acoustics attract all sorts of musicians, who fortunately want to return on a regular basis too. We have two events in October for your delight and entertainment:

Los Ladrones on Saturday 5th October at 7.30pm, with interval refreshments. They will entertain with “Cups & Saucers”, a Victorian curtain-raiser, and popular excerpts from many of the Gilbert & Sullivan operettas.

Dolce String Quartet on Sunday 20th October at 2.30pm, followed by tea and cakes. They will perform the popular American Quartet by Dvorak, plus more.

Hope to welcome you soon.
