Clanfield Voluntary Care Group have installed a bench in Peel Park in memory of Shirley Hebbs, one of their hardworking volunteers.

“Shirley Hebbs moved to Clanfield from London in 1985 after retiring from her post as a nursery coordinator in 1982.

“Shirley soon got involved with voluntary work in Clanfield and through the WRVS she regularly delivered hot meals to residents in Horndean and Clanfield. She joined Clanfield Voluntary Care Group in February 1995 as a driver and later became a coordinator as well. She devoted a lot of her time to the smooth running of the group and its activities.

“Sadly, Shirley suffered from a brain tumour and then a stroke in 2014; and subsequently died in April 2019. The CVCG much valued her service and contribution in helping others and have donated a bench, now located in Clanfield Peel Park in her memory.”
