Clanfield Co-op cash raid update

Structural engineers are inspecting the damage inflicted on the Clanfield Co-op store following the cash machine raid in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The damage to the front of the building is evident, with the area around the cash machine fenced off. It is thought that the thieves did not make off with any cash, but investigations are ongoing.

The Clanfield Co-op staff succeeded in opening the store yesterday, despite the disruption from this raid – the second time in two years. Grateful customers have been offering their good wishes in person and on social media.

Southern Co-operative Head Office commented: “Following the incident at the weekend, the ATM is not available at the moment. We are currently talking to the third party provider to get it reinstalled. In the meantime, customers can get money out via the over counter Post Office or ask for cash back with any purchase.“

We'd ask anyone with information to contact Hampshire Constabulary. We would also like to thank the community for its support and colleagues who enabled the store to reopen on Sunday afternoon.”
