Clanfield Online AGM - 2019 was a busy year
Clanfield Online community website members held their AGM last week. To be able to gather 35 people, representing local business and community groups, on a chilly February night was no mean feat. More would have come along, but the evening clashed with other meetings – we must live in a busy village? Before I file away my notes, I thought I would share them with you.
Membership increased in 2019:
58 business and 32 community members (2018/19: 45 business and 30 community members). Business members pay a one-off annual fee of £96.00: Community groups receive free membership.
Website work increased in 2019:
Nearly 500 events, news and blogs published on website and shared hundreds more on social media. We enable local businesses and community groups to have a voice in the village: we promote and celebrate events, news and local people.
Projects expanded in 2019:
Funded 4 new planters for village = now 10 in total
Funded compost and seasonal plants throughout year and maintained Drift Road roundabout
Funded purchase and installation of 10 Christmas trees, lights, decorations: our thanks to EHDC Ken Moon and Arthur Agate for a donation to help with costs
Funded Clanfield Gardening Club to plant and maintain Drift Rd flowerbed throughout year
Donation to Clanfield Cubs and Beavers funds for repainting wooden planters
Donation to CJS ‘Grow It’ club for tools and seeds in return for planting flowers in community containers
Donation to Petersgate School minibus appeal
Donation to Clanfield Voluntary Care Group for their work helping elderly, frail villagers
Sponsored Clanfield Cricket Club team kit in 2019
Sponsored Clanfield Football Club Under 8’s team kit
Funded road safety signs for Clanfield Litter Picking Group
Bought and installed large poppies on street planters
Funded Clanfield Beavers for making poppy wreaths for Drift Road roundabout; increasing their knowledge of Remembrance Day
Purchased bunting for VE75 Day 2020
Held Networking Meetings giving businesses and community groups the chance to meet and help each other
Clanfield Challenge 2020 - supported this marvellous run every year through publicity and promotion
Purchased and selling Clanfield Shopping bags as our commitment to ‘ditching the plastic’
It’s quite a long list for a small, local community website. We couldn’t manage this work without the support of local volunteers, businesses and groups. They gave their time, skills, knowledge; donating goods or at cost price for the benefit of the village. Clanfield Online hopes you will support them in 2020.
