Local MP visits Clanfield shops
Flick Drummond MP visited Clanfield shops and talked to customers, volunteers, and business owners last Saturday. She was accompanied by our local Hampshire County Councillor Rob Mocatta.
Despite an overcast morning, there were plenty of shoppers out and about in Drift Road and local businesses were busy. Budgens was the first stop for our local representatives, where volunteers from the Coronavirus Support Group have been managing queues since the start of lockdown: then they spoke to Charlie at Clanfield Trade Centre and Nigel at Hadwen’s Greengrocer and Florist shop. Finally, they chatted to Tina Othen at Belle De Vie on her first (busy) opening day since March.
Local business owners and community volunteers described the problems they had faced over the last few months and how they worked together to overcome them. In response, Cllr Rob Mocatta praised the community for pulling together during this crisis; and on her Facebook page Flick Drummond commented “Great to hear from businesses in Clanfield about how people have been shopping locally during the coronavirus crisis….thank you to the wonderful Clanfield Online and to every volunteer that has brought the community together.”
Clanfield Online, has 51 business members, many of whom have been closed over the past 3 months, but their commitment to the community has remained undiminished. Please support them in the coming months as they start to rebuild their businesses. https://www.clanfieldonline.com/3/business-directory
