Great day out at Butser Ancient Farm
https://www.butserancientfarm.co.uk/
Butser Ancient Farm should be at the top of your ‘places to visit’ this summer. The experimental archaeology site is just 3 miles from the centre of Clanfield and is a fascinating place to visit. Families were enjoying the sunshine today as they explored buildings reconstructed to show life in the Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman times and through to the Anglo Saxons.
Step back in time and imagine yourself walking in the footsteps of the people who lived in the South Downs hundreds and thousands of years ago. How did they live, what did they eat and what did they wear? Are Iron Age Round houses and Saxon Halls warm and comfortable? Did Roman villas have bathrooms? How did they decorate their homes and how did they enjoy celebrations?
Bring a picnic or purchase simple refreshments from the shop – the ice cream is divine! The parking is free and well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
There are plenty of animals to feed and pet. Look out for Ash – he’s a friendly, but very naughty, goat that is always escaping from his pen!
Booking your tickets online before your visit is essential. Butser Ancient Farm has been awarded the 'Good to Go' certification from Visit England in acknowledgment of the measures taken to follow government and industry COVID-19 guidelines. https://butser-ancient-farm.arttickets.org.uk/?t=1596126959995
