Busy weekend ahead for litter pickers

Clanfield and Horndean Litter Pickers are due to meet on Sunday 18 October to clear litter hotspots in both two villages. A quick inspection of local open spaces, streets and pathways forecast a busy time for the volunteers.
Peel Park in Clanfield is a regular ‘hot-spot’ for litter, especially beside the skate park. Just a quick inspection revealed a collection of empty plastic bottles and food packets beside a nearly empty litter bin with more litter discarded in the hedgerow. The London Road, from Snells Corner northward, is also going to need volunteers to clear cans, bottles and packaging thrown onto the grassy pathway and into the hedgerow. Outside the shops discarded receipts are often a problem: the solution is to refuse a receipt or dispose of it at home.
The Clanfield and Horndean Litter Pickers welcome new volunteers who wish to join them but please let them know if you are coming along. A group leader commented in a social media post : “Pickers and hi-vis vests are available but please wear your own gloves. To comply with Covid regulations we will allocate small groups to an area. If you know of a particular hotspot that needs clearing please do let us know. Please observe social distancing whilst waiting to hear about your task area.”
Let’s keep Clanfield and Horndean beautiful – take your litter home!
