Clanfield Cricket Club took advantage of a dry and sunny spell of weather in June as all of the Saturday, Sunday & Midweek teams continued their 2021 seasons.

The Saturday league side won 3 out of the 3 games played in June with another being conceded by the opposition due to lack of players. A 2-wicket win was achieved in the first ever Hampshire League match at South Lane Meadow vs Purbrook 3rd XI with a more commanding 68 run win against Portsmouth & Southsea 4th XI the following week. The final match of the month ended in defeat against Portsmouth Community. Captain Matt Bradley scored Clanfield’s first ever league half century vs Purbrook with contributions also from Alex Andrews (46) & Steve Perkins (32 & 37*) in the other matches. The league season continues into July with away fixtures against Kerala 3rd XI, Hayling Island 3rd XI & Gosport 3rd XI with home fixtures against Fair Oak 4th XI & Waterlooville 3rd XI.

The Sunday side secured a first win of the 2021 season away at St Cross but were defeated in the other 2 games in June vs Swanmore and DACD. Scores in the 30’s from Andy Foster & Kieran Page against Swanmore as well as Foster’s 29 vs DACD were the highlights with the bat. Sean Swift’s 3 wickets at St Cross was the highlight with the ball. The Sunday side look forward to more fixtures in July with home games against Ashling & Knowle Village with away games at the picturesque grounds of Droxford and Elsted.

The midweek team retained an unbeaten 2021 season through June with victories against East Meon & DSTL Portsdown West but unfortunately the weather caused games against Wallington & Lou Smith Casuals to be cancelled. There were 6 scores of 25 & retire from 5 different batsmen across the 2 games played with Roy Goulding taking 2 wickets in each game to lead the way with the ball. The midweek side will look to retain their unbeaten run into July with home games against West Meon, Millcomms & Raymarine with an away fixture against Wallington to finish the month.
