National Gardening Week – let’s grow a new generation of gardeners
National Gardening Week (Monday 26 April – Sunday 2 May) is here and this is your opportunity to transform your garden, a patio or a windowsill into a colourful, productive and wildlife friendly space.
The Royal Horticultural Society https://www.rhs.org.uk/ is urging us to get involved in gardening and ‘Get your dose of Vitamin G.’ “Vitamin G is ‘green’, and research has shown that getting a daily dose improves our sense of personal wellbeing,” explains RHS Director of Science, Professor Alistair Griffiths.
Nearer to home, Clanfield Gardening Club has been on a mission to share the love and knowledge of gardening for the past 40 years. The group welcomes new members and are ready to share their expertise: https://www.clanfieldonline.com/90/330/clanfield-gardening-club
Not sure what to buy or how to plant? That’s where Clanfield has the edge on other villages: we have businesses that offer a wide variety of plants and good gardening advice:
Nigel Hadwen’s Greengrocer & Florist for a wide variety of plants https://www.clanfieldonline.com/64/1124/clanfield-greengrocer-florist-n-hadwen
Rumsey Gardens – a traditional garden nursery https://www.clanfieldonline.com/27/245/hampshire-herb-centre-at-rumsey-gardens
Julia’s Garden Care offers general garden maintenance https://www.clanfieldonline.com/27/1192/julias-garden-care
Still not sure what to plant and afraid of making a mistake? Why not take a walk around the village and see what your neighbours are growing in their gardens? It might give you all the inspiration you need to bring your garden to life. Let’s grow a new generation of gardeners.
