#NoMowMay rolls into #LetItBloomJune

How does your garden grow? Mine is a riot of colour thanks to No Mow May, which has rolled into #LetItBloomJune and we’re looking forward to #KneeHighJuly. I have to thank Clanfield Gardening Club for their advice and encouragement to keep the mower in the shed.

Daisies, buttercups, speedwell, cornflowers and oxeye daisies and many other wild flowers jostle for space with a variety of flowering grasses. Yes, we do have some short grass – the mower has been let out of the shed to create pathways, so that we can enjoy the garden without crushing the wild plants.

Letting the flowers grow is giving the pollinators a chance to thrive, which in turn helps insects, birds and animals to flourish. And this explosion of plant growth will give you hours of fun watching the pollinators visiting the flowers heads, insects clambering around the ‘green jungle’ followed by birds searching for an easy meal.

It’s not too late to join in – even a small patch ground left to ‘go wild’ will surprise you with a variety of plants – just don’t been too tidy in the garden!
