Charlie’s Clanfield Trade Centre celebrates 35 years!

There have been many changes in Clanfield over the years and Charlie Cumbers of Clanfield Trade Centre has seen them all: from the great storm of 1987 to the new housing developments along Green Lane. Monday 11th November marked Charlie’s 35th year serving the community of Clanfield, so we wanted to mark and celebrate this important milestone.

In the winter of 1984 Charlie, at the ripe old age of 27, started his new adventure at the shop which was then known as Clanfield Accessories. He quickly made a name for himself selling car accessories, cycle accessories and much, much more. The products available may have changed and increased in variety but the local “Aladdin’s Cave” now known as Charlie’s - Clanfield Trade Centre, still provides the personal touch when it comes to serving the local community.

Charlie and his family have been overwhelmed and humbled by the support and kind words of recognition over the past week, in particular the 1st Clanfield Scout Group who congratulated Charlie via social media, posting “Charlie has always been a fantastic supporter of our scout group and has helped us to raise a huge amount of money over the years”. Another supporter also commented “Love that shop it’s like a Tardis, seems to have just about everything. Friendly and helpful too”.

Charlie would like to personally thank all of his customers both past and present for their continued support in helping make his beloved shop the success it is today. Here’s to many more years!
