Easter Resolutions

The clocks spring forward this weekend and British Summer Time officially begins. So, perhaps it’s time to take another look at those New Year resolutions that were made in the cold, grey light of January?

How well did you do with the ‘get fit and stay fit’ promise?  How long did that exercise regime last?  Did you manage to shed those extra pounds with that easy ‘anyone can do it’ diet?  The new skills you were going to learn or the group you meant to join – was it a success? How about that desire to achieve a more sensible work-life balance so you didn’t spend every waking hour working or worrying?

Well, if you are like me, the answer to most or if not all of the above is – no, no, no, no and no.  If this were a school exam we would be receiving F minus with a note to drop in and have a little chat with the Head Teacher. Happily, this is not an exam and good resolutions made at any time of the year are yours to keep, break or complete in your own time.

Easter us almost here so why not dig out that list again?  If you were willing to give more exercise, a healthy diet, a new skill or change in lifestyle a go in cold, miserable January how much more inspired will you be in the warmth and sunshine of March and April?

So, review what is important to you and make just a few changes that could have a big effect on your life. Leave the car at home and go out for a walk or run.  Visit your local shops for the best meat, fruit and vegetables to start the healthy diet. New skills, learning and a work - life balance may start with joining a local group or organisation in the village. You will be given a warm welcome, make friends and could start your life in a new direction. Have a look at our Community Directory for inspiration.

On Sunday 22 May we are sponsoring the Clanfield Challenge a 12K, 5K and 1K race and we hope that many local people will enter to take part.  This could be the opportunity you are waiting for – an event that will revive your New Year’s resolution to achieve a healthier and more well balanced lifestyle.  We are working closely with the Clanfield Joggers who will advise you if you want to start training now for the Challenge or just want to make running a part of your life.

And if you don’t manage everything on the list today then don’t beat yourself up about it – tomorrow is another day!
