South of Butser Safer Neighbourhood Team

Summary

South of Butser Safer Neighbourhood Team are the local beat team covering the beat areas of  Buriton, East Meon, Clanfield, Rowlands Castle and Finchdean.

The team for south of Butser is made up of three PCSO’s and one Police officer.

We hold a beat surgery once a month at the Clanfield Sports and Community Centre.  (http://www.clanfieldonline.com/82/1753/clanfield-sports-and-community-centre).

Horndean is a separate beat area and covered by 3 other PCSO’s and another police officer from Petersfield.

They hold a beat surgery once a month in the Horndean Library on Five Heads Road.(http://www.clanfieldonline.com/18/570/horndean-library).

We are here to be a strong visible presence within the beat area and deal with issues that impact local residents.  Part of our role is to carry out reassurance and crime prevention visits to people who have been victims of crime. Another part of our job role is dealing with occasional neighbour disputes.  We target anti social behaviour.  We try to spot trends in crime and nip it in the bud, we also try to be a visible presence in the community, you will always see us out and about on the beat patrolling in vehicles, on foot or on our bikes.

We are also involved in engaging with the local community, attending community events often with a stall advertising crime prevention and seeking to engage in that way, and find out what the main concerns of you; the public, are.  We run our own beat surgeries, the main one being at Morrison’s supermarket once a month, the dates can be found on the Hampshire Constabulary website.  We are also to be found in various schools on the beat area engaging with the children and teenagers.

We are involved in the running of a community speed watch scheme, in an attempt to educate speeding motorists and in supporting our partner agencies such as neighbourhood watch schemes.

We work closely with the local council and other partner agencies such as housing associations.  We all seek to support each other in the reduction of crime and the fear of crime and anti social behaviour across the beat area.
