Clanfield Online adds a splash of colour

Local business owners and Clanfield Online volunteers were busy yesterday, planting up six wooden containers with colourful plants outside the shops in Drift Road.  They even recruited a local resident who stopped to admire their work and found himself part of the team!

Until a couple of weeks ago these planters held Christmas trees which brought festive light and colour to the village. In the dull days of January, Clanfield Online has again funded fresh compost, evergreens and bright pansies to make our local business area a pleasant place to shop.  The plants should last until the spring when a new planting scheme is planned.

Nigel Hadwen, local greengrocer was assisted by Graham Reeve of Reeve Butchers, Lisa West owner of Evolve Hair and Beauty and Jennie Shaw of Sew Made For You.  Nigel, chairman of Clanfield Online commented “We are keen to encourage the local community to become more involved in volunteering to make this village a beautiful place to live and work.”

Clanfield Online is funded by the business community and supported by local volunteers and community groups.  Next job on the list is to plant up the flowerbed on the roundabout.  Clanfield Online is funding this work which will be undertaken by the experts from the Clanfield Gardening Club.

Don’t forget to add an extra resolution to your 2019 list. 2019 Resolution - love your village
