Places to visit this Easter

The weather forecast is looking good for the rest of the Easter holidays, so this is your opportunity to get out and enjoy the countryside with the family. Are you searching for inspiration to entertain the children?  Here’s a few ideas that won’t cost a fortune:

  • Butser Ancient Farm must be in the top 10 of any list. You can travel back in time and experience how our ancestors lived in the Stone Age through to the Romans and Anglo Saxons. Hands on activities for the children and meeting the new born animals in the farm. Not to be missed! What's on at BAF
  • Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Butser Hill.  A firm favourite for every age group. Butser Hill is the highest point of the South Downs and QECP offers a variety of activities from woodland play areas to a challenging assault course. QECP Explore the park
  • Old Winchester Hill: Iron Age Hillfort about 5 miles from Clanfield. Free parking so take a picnic and enjoy the superb views.  Old Winchester Hill
  • Bike ride for the whole family? If you don’t fancy cycling in the South Downs how about taking the bikes to the disused railway line in the Meon Valley – no hills to climb – just beautiful views in quiet countryside.  Free parking at West Meon Station about 7 miles from Clanfield.   Meon Valley Trail
  • Head out for a walk? Clanfield Online has published several local walks for you to enjoy so why not leave the car at home, pull on your boots and make a day of it? Don’t forget the Countryside Code: Respect. Protect. Enjoy. Walk 1 Walk 2 Walk3 Walk 4
  • If all this fresh air and activity is getting too much then why not visit The Hatch and CSCC put your feet up and enjoy a coffee and slice of cake?

You don’t have to travel miles to have a good time this Easter – we have everything you need within a few miles of the village.
