Butser Ancient Farm - and now for something really special this Christmas..
A magical winter awaits at Butser Ancient Farm with unique events which will really add something special to your families' Christmas.
If you have already visited Father Christmas but would still like to get out of the house and avoid the high street, then this is perfect for you.
On Friday 18 December Tales of Winter Magic (storytelling with Red Phoenix) in the Grand Roundhouse at 3.45pm and for those who get out of school early that day there is the Roman Christmas in the Villa (Saturnalia) at 2pm. Each child will also get a chance to create something to take home and receive a gift from Butser Ancient Farm. Hot drinks will be available, so arrive in good time to get a hot chocolate and bag your seat by the fire! We even offer free parking!
For those seeking a little calm at this time of year, how about the Winter Solstice Meditation in the Roundhouse on Saturday 19th December, 2-4pm. Home-made refreshments are included.
Tickets can be bought online at www.butserancientfarm.co.uk and the Butser Shop is also a great place to get some last minute Christmas presents which are most definitely not on the high street!
Saturnalia - Roman Christmas Celebration
Friday 18 December. Starts at 2pm
Families are invited to take part is a very special celebration where they can experience how the Romans did Christmas. £12.00 per child, accompanying adult comes free. Each child receives a gift from Butser Ancient Farm and creates a natural craft masterpiece to take home.
Tales of Winter Magic
Friday 18 December. Starts at 4pm
Listen to Red Phoenix tell her winter solstice stories within the magical atmosphere of the Grand Roundhouse. Each year some children are picked to be part of the story, so it could turn into an interactive experience… So, grab a hot chocolate and cosy up by the fire for something completely different this Christmas. £12.00 per child, accompanying adult comes free. This event includes the making of a natural crown prior to storytelling and a gift to take home.
Mid Winter Meditation
Saturday 19 December. 2 - 4pm.
You are invited to experience some calm within the Grand Roundhouse this winter, bring a warm rug and relax around the fire. Tickets are £18.00 per head which includes some homemade refreshments.
Celtic Festival of Imbolc
Saturday 30 January. 1 - 4pm
Join Jonathon Huet as he leads us through a special celebration with storytelling, fire lighting and singing in the Iron Age Enclosure. Tickets are £12.00 per head which includes a light vegetarian meal.
