Clanfield Gardening Club

Clanfield Gardening Club

Clanfield Gardening Club was established in 1982 by local people who wanted to share their love and knowledge of gardening, encouraging others to join them and make their gardens bloom and flourish.  As a nation we love our gardens, taking pride in nurturing plants that bring colour, scent and wildlife to our homes. Clanfield Gardening Club, which has over 50 members, wants to encourage all villagers to get involved in gardening.

You don’t have to be an expert to join the club; just come along with a desire to know more about plants and how to grow them. You will receive a warm welcome and members are always delighted to share their wealth of knowledge with new recruits. We meet every second Tuesday of the month starting at 7.30pm when we invite an expert to speak at our meetings held at Petersgate School in Clanfield. We keep our costs low with an annual membership fee of £3.00 and monthly meeting fee of £3.00 which includes tea and coffee.

Our speakers cover a wide variety of horticultural subjects ensuring that there is always a lively question and answer session afterwards. Our emphasis is on gardening enriched by speakers who are experts in their field.  We also organise visits to outstanding gardens every year - Parham House, Chartwell and Hever Castle to name but a few.

Throughout the year we arrange social evenings, quizzes and enjoy ‘bring and share’ meals which strengthens the spirit of the club.  We also organise regular competitions and shows such as the Spring and Autumn Shows which culminates in the highlight of the year - the Clanfield Horticultural Show at the end of August.  Cups and Trophies are presented to winners in a wide variety of categories including plants, flowers, fruits, baking, craft and photography.  We include a special children’s category to encourage the next generation to get involved.

If you are interested in knowing more about gardening, then contact us or just come along to one of our regular meetings.

The cost is  £3.00 annually plus £3.00 monthly meeting
