On a cold autumn night a group of Clanfield Cubs slept under the stars to raise money to buy rucksacks for homeless people in Portsmouth. These brave children raised a massive £800 which was used to buy and equip 12 rucksacks which were delivered the organisers of the Rucksack Project last Saturday at the Portsmouth Watersports Centre.
One of the group is featured in this heart-warming video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i386prL2Ev4&feature=youtu.be
Volunteers from some of the charities, including Homes for Veterans and Rethink Mental Illness have been overwhelmed by the generosity of individuals and groups such as Clanfield Cubs.
Each rucksack was filled with warm clothes, toiletries, food and a sleeping bag. The organisers of the Rucksack Project say there are an unknown number of people sleeping rough or surviving with minimal possessions and this early Christmas present will be very much appreciated.
Well done Clanfield Cubs!
