Clanfield rounded off the season with a fine win against local rivals Petersfield on a beautiful afternoon at South Lane Meadow.

Missing their two main batsmen but featuring several players who have also played for Petersfield, Clanfield won the toss and chose to bowl first. With the pitch a little slow (following Saturdays heavy rain) and a lush outfield, the visitors never found scoring easy. Despite a steady 61 from Chris Russell, supported by Ron Allerston with 21, Petersfield reached 118 for 6 from their 40 overs. Needing an unlikely 8 wickets to claim the bowling trophy, Ben Cox again bowled well to take 3 for 10 from 8 overs.

Clanfield generally took a more direct approach to batting with Mark Turbull contributing 55 from only 40 balls. A more watchful 35 not out from Andy Robinson and 14 from John Windebank saw the home team to 119 for 3 in the 27th over and victory by 7 wickets.

A good win in a very friendly and enjoyable fixture to end the season.
