Clanfield Crimea Barn under threat-can you help?
6th January 2016
Clanfield CC made a successful start to the new indoor league season by defeating Sarisbury at Fareham Leisure Centre. This was a terrific start after an unexpected promotion into Division 3 of the league.
Winning the toss and batting first, Sarisbury struggled against some tight bowling by all the Clanfield bowlers. However, both of the openers accumulated runs and retired at 25. Although Clanfield didn't get their first wicket until the 11th over, they got two more run outs in the 12th to restrict their opponents to 98 for 3. This was a fine bowling performance given that 2 of the team had never played indoor cricket before.
When Clanfield batted, Haider Khan and Alex Andrews got off to a flying start with 47 from the first 4 overs. When Alex was out and Haider retired, they suffered a mini collapse but captain Matt Bradley helped see them home to 101 for 3 with just over 3 overs to spare.
An excellent start to the season in a higher division.
