Clanfield Cricket Club Summer Reports

Clanfield made the short trip to Petersfield and gained a convincing win on the Heath on Sunday (31/7).

Batting first on an uneven pitch but with a fast outfield, Clanfield scored steadily throughout their innings. After an early wicket, Chris Wheeler scored a handy 31 but the star performance was by Haider Khan who made 88 at just over a run a ball. Skipper Matt Bradley added 29 as Clanfield were all out for 202 from the final ball of their 40 overs. Fine bowling of 5 for 25 by young Harvey Baker helped Petersfield take regular wickets.

When Petersfield batted, they were soon in trouble as steady and economical bowling reduced them to 41-8. All the front line bowlers took wickets as Will Andrews (2-14 from 4 overs), Russ Stuart (2-11 from 6.2), Bob Wheeler (2-5 from 3) and Dave Scott-Angell (2-3 from 5) contributed. At this stage, 2 Petersfield youngsters set about surviving as Harvey Baker (Retired 15 not out) and Adam Childs with 20 not out extended the match to the 38th over when Petersfield finished on 75.
