Better parking, safer roads – Community Forum in Petersfield
Residents can find out about new parking regulations aimed at making Petersfield’s roads safer at the next community forum to be held in the town.
New Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) are being drawn up in Petersfield as well as in Alton, Liphook and Horndean.
Emma Pond, East Hampshire District Council Parking and Traffic Manager, will explain the work at the Community Forum for Petersfield and surrounding villages on Wednesday 2 November.
She said one of the priorities of the new rules was to improve safety.
“We are focusing on safety and we are prioritising our resources to address the cause of accidents to reduce the number of people killed and injured,” she said.
The team is also putting together a five year parking strategy. The strategy seeks to balance the needs of residents, businesses and visitors and covers all aspects of parking including on and off-street parking, parking charges, permits, enforcement and management.
Cllr Ben Bentley, Chairman of the Community Forum for Petersfield and surrounding villages, said: “Parking is always a hot topic in Petersfield so I am delighted that Emma will be able to tell us what the latest situation is and what EHDC can and cannot do in terms of regulating parking in the district.”
The Forum will be held at the Council Offices, Penns Place, Petersfield, GU31 4EX on Wednesday 2 November at 6.30pm.
