Clanfield will hold a Service of Remembrance at the Memorial Hall in South Lane on Sunday 13 November and timed to coincide with the national service and the two minutes Silence at 11:00.

We request that people are seated by 10.45 to allow for the scouts to march from the scout hut and prepare to present their colours in safety.  Please allow plenty of time to arrive and make your way to the Memorial Hall as this is a well-attended service by villagers of all ages. Please note there will be no 11am service in St James

Rev. Anne Gothard from St James Church will conduct the service where a new Altar Frontal for Remembrance will be blessed and the Portland Memorial Plaque will be dedicated at the laying of the wreaths. This year we will be able to complete the War Memorial by adding the tablet engraved with the names of the fallen from the village.  . All monies collected will go to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Wreaths will be laid by: Ken Moon on behalf of EHDC; Terry Collins on behalf of the Parish Council; a representative of the Royal Navy; the Head of Horndean Technology College; the Police and Brian Ahern on behalf of Memorial Hall Trustees. Brian’s young granddaughter will lay a Remembrance Cross on behalf of her great uncle, her grandmother’s only brother.

Bill Crouch aged 94, who has lived in the village for many years, will take part in this solemn service.  Bill is the retired headmaster of the Junior School and served in the RAF Far East during WW2.
