EHDC - Clean for the Queen
Local people are showing pride in their patch and cleaning up their communities as part of a national tidy-up to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
East Hampshire residents are gathering together to Clean for the Queen by litter-picking areas of their community over the weekend of 4-6 March.
And residents keen to join in will get lots of support if they sign up by the deadline Friday 19 February.
East Hampshire District Council and its environmental contractor The Landscape Group are managing the scheme in the district and are ready to help the groups taking part.
Equipment such as hand-held litter-pickers, branded bin bags and hi-vis jackets can be borrowed before the event and, after the clean-up, The Landscape Group will take away the collected rubbish free of charge.
Cllr Julie Butler, EHDC’s Portfolio Holder for Customer Relations, said: “This is a nationwide scheme but we are right behind it here in East Hampshire.
“We all know that the district is one of the nicest places in the country to live and work, but there are always little corners that need a bit of extra attention.
“If you want to get together with a group of friends and give your community a clean-up then we and The Landscape Group will be happy to help you.”
Those interested in taking part should get in touch with The Landscape Group no later than Friday 19 February to ensure that equipment can be provided in time.
To sign up email Dorothy Caplin, of The Landscape Group, firstname.lastname@example.org.
